Hartford, WI – The recently released Wisconsin Public Service Commission financial report on the Hartford electric and water utilities shows above minimum levels for their rate of return.
This is great news as it shows these utilities will not need to increase rates in the next year as long as it continues to stay above the minimum. The rate of return of these utilities is normally expected to stay just above 4-5%.

Both utilities are just above that threshold as of the end of 2022. Neither utility has had to increase their rates for quite some time due to great management of limited resources.
This is not the same situation for many other communities due to their need for additional borrowing/debt that will drive up utility rates. All three of the Hartford utilities are in great shape for the foreseeable future.
