Fire danger ‘very high’ across southeastern Wisconsin | By Wisconsin DNR

Washington County, WI – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has placed all of southeastern Wisconsin in the ‘very high’ fire danger zone.

A rating of VERY HIGH means wildfires start easily, spread rapidly with increased intensity and are very difficult to control.

According to the Wisconsin DNR, “Wildfires pose a serious threat to public safety, property, and our natural resources. Over 98% of all wildfires in Wisconsin are caused by people. Knowing the common causes, understanding the conditions under which they can start and spread, and taking appropriate action can greatly increase your chances of preventing an unwanted fire.”
