March 28, 2023 – West Bend, Wi – When you vote in this upcoming school board election in the West Bend School District, look around and focus on what is impacting our district. Ask yourself, do you want candidates who take action, or just sound good, and have spent this process simply talking themselves up?
Do you want to elect candidates who have already proven to be there at school board meetings, and have participated in both public debates? Candidates that are attending public events, and knocking doors all over the district to speak to all of you face to face about the issues that are currently facing our school district. The candidates that have proven to have done this are listed 4,5,6 on the ballot.
While knocking doors in the district over the last few weeks, I’m hearing from parents with kids at the middle school that there is an increasing issue with proper accountability for students. Also, there is a need for transparency with parents about behavioral issues impacting the students. After similar serious issues at the high school last year, I am seeing what I moved my family away from, coming out here, and beginning to take root.
A one size fits all big government approach being forced on our school district.
When I moved to West Bend four years ago, there was a lot of talk about right sizing the district, which hasn’t happened. In the last four years our budget shortfall continues to increase. This has created an opportunity for big government ESSER funds to come into our district. I believe big government will use those funds to take charge of the decisions that I believe should remain local for all of us to decide.
After years of a school board that mainly voted 7-0, and has allowed these issues to grow, the people in our school district recognize that. That is why we voted overwhelmingly last year for two family-first candidates that have been trying to implement the change we voted for. Unfortunately, they have been getting blocked with many 5-2 votes over the last year. This has only allowed big government curriculum, and funds to take more control over the decisions that should be made locally. This year, there are three open seats. There are three candidates that will protect the rights of the family unit, along with ensuring everyone in the district is held accountable under the same policies, and laws that are in place. Vote bottom ballot 4,5,6.
