Significant K9 drug bust in Fond du Lac | By Fond du Lac Co. Sheriff

March 15, 2023 – Fond du Lac, WI – On March 13 at 5:54pm, a Sheriff’s K9 was requested by a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper to assist at a traffic stop on I41 near STH 23.

The trooper had information to believe the vehicle was transporting illegal drugs.

K9 Rip and his handler arrived and conducted an open air sniff around the vehicle. Rip alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted.

During the search, a 1.2 kilogram brick (over 2.6 pounds) of cocaine with an approximate street value of $100,000, along with approximately 3 grams of fentanyl and cash was located and seized.

Investigators from the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group, commonly referred to as the MEG Unit, were called in to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Two occupants, both adult males from the Fox Valley area, were taken into custody for charges stemming from the traffic stop.

The driver had an extensive criminal history, including prior drug convictions, and is currently out on bond through Washington County for charges including OWI 5th/6th offense and possession of cocaine, among other criminal charges.

The passenger has a criminal history that includes drug and firearm related charges, and had an active warrant for his arrest out of Winnebago County. Both were transported and remain in custody in the Fond du Lac County Jail.

Collaborative inter-agency efforts like this are crucial to our ongoing commitment to detect and remove dangerous drugs from our community, and we’re proud of the work these front line troopers, deputies and investigators perform each and every day.
