West Bend, WI – The price of eggs is having a big impact on orders for chickens which are set to arrive this spring at the West Bend Elevator. “It has already been a big order season, and this is pretty darn early,” said clerk Dena Schommer. “I had an order for 300 meat birds alone.”
The process at West Bend Elevator now includes in-person orders only with a form that needs to be filled out. The chicks are expected to arrive March 29 with bi-weekly delivers after that.
The chickens take 10 weeks to mature.
The minimum order is 16 birds.
