West Bend, WI – Making up for the last couple of years of postponing the annual Leadership Giving Event due to the pandemic, the United Way of Washington County presented three honorees with the Clifford A. & Elizabeth M. Nelson Volunteer Leadership Award on August 31 at the 85th + 1 Anniversary Leadership Giving event.
United Way’s Volunteer Leadership Award was created to recognize an individual in Washington County who has demonstrated community leadership and a long-term commitment to volunteering. The award is named in honor of the late Cliff Nelson and his wife Betty, who are known for their outstanding volunteer efforts on behalf of human service, civic, and arts organizations. Each year, past Nelson Award winners nominate and select a new recipient.
At this year’s event, three community leaders were honored with this prestigious lifetime achievement award:
Tim Purman, President & CEO of Forte Bank
Tim has been a generous contributor of his time and talent for more than 30 years in Hartford and throughout Washington County. Tim’s service in key leadership roles include President of the Hartford Rotary Club, United Way of Washington County Campaign Chair in 2001, and the Capital Campaign Chair (with his wife Shari) at the Jack Russell Memorial Library in 2009.
Tim has also served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations in Washington County and championed economic development and downtown revitalization projects in the Hartford area. Forte Bank has been a longtime supporter of United Way under Tim’s leadership and one of the top local contributing banks.

Chris is currently serving on the West Bend Froedtert Hospital Foundation Board.
Jerry Aman, Account Executive with R&R Insurance
Jerry has more than 45 years of community service accomplishments, which include his amazing dedication to our local United Way.
