July 13, 2022 – Washington County, WI – State Representative Timothy Ramthun (R-Campbellsport) issued the following statement in response to the July 8, 2022 Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling on Richard Teigen v. Wisconsin Elections Commission:
“My continued and unwavering efforts to seek closure of, by, and for the people regarding the 2020 election, was once again vindicated now that the Supreme Court has confirmed the use of ballot drop boxes in Wisconsin were illegal in 2020.
“The Legislative Audit Bureau investigation identified that 28.7 percent of municipal clerks across all 72 counties used these illegal drop boxes in 2020. The ballots placed in those illegal drop boxes are null and void. Since there are no clear chain of custody records to allow for the separation of legal and illegal ballots statewide, the true determination of who won the November 2020 presidential election is impossible.
“Therefore, I am introducing LRB-6371, an updated and revised resolution to reclaim Wisconsin’s ten electoral ballots and I am requesting an extraordinary session be held for a vote.
“I call upon my colleagues to support this historic and necessary action, and acknowledge it is our responsibility to use the plenary authority under Article II Section 1 Clause 2 of the US Constitution to decertify Wisconsin’s 10 electoral ballots. It is the only course of action that can restore public confidence in elections and rectify the wrongs that have occurred on our watch.”
