July 4, 2022 – Fond Du Lac County, WI – On Monday July 4, 2022 at approximately 7:16 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Communication Center took a call of an older yellow lab mix dog wondering around the area of Harbor View Dr and Mohawk Ave in the City of Fond du Lac.
City of Fond du Lac Police Department responded and located the canine but it would not go near anyone. The dog eventually went into Lake Winnebago and began to swim away from shore. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was requested to respond to the lake to assist with a boat, getting the dog out of the water.
Sheriff’s Office Deputies along with a City of Fond du Lac Police Officer responded on the Sheriff’s Office boat and located the dog approximately ¾ mile north of Lakeside Park Marina. These deputies and officer rescued it from the water and transported it back to shore where it was then taken to the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
