Obituary | Robert “Bob” Wolter of West Bend, WI

May 6, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Robert (Bob) Wolter was born and raised in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He attended Riverside High School and graduated as part of the class of 1952.

After high school, Bob joined the Army based primarily at Ft. Bliss, Texas, and spent one year in Japan. After his discharge, he was accepted at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and began classes in March of 1958. He completed his studies and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

After graduating, Bob went to work for IBM in Chicago Illinois, and lived in Elmwood Park in the same apartment for his whole career with IBM. He worked in the Technical Engineering department finishing his career as a lead Technician after 27 years at the company. Robert retired from IBM via an early retirement buyout from the company in 1987. After retiring Bob moved to Holcomb Wi and lived in the house that the family built (in 1960) and lived there enjoying the country life until 2004. Bob moved to West Bend in August 2004 and lived in a house on Gorman Way until February 2019 when he moved to New Perspectives Community where he lived out his last years.

Bob enjoyed deer hunting and often went bird hunting with his brother-in-law Jerry Janecek. He loved the outdoors and often went for long walks and bike rides. He was a frequent visitor at his sister Jeanette’s (Nettie) home in Illinois and went to every State and County Fair he could find within a few hours’ drive of his home.

Bob was a bachelor his whole life and often spent time with his sisters and their families as his nieces and nephews were growing up.

Bob was preceded in death by his sisters Doreen Van Derel (Gene), Shirley Janecek (Gerald), and Jeanette McMullin (Francis), his father Oscar Wolter, brothers in Law Gerald Janecek and Francis McMullin, and Niece Laura Tank. He is survived by Niece Kathleen McMullin-Llamas (Joseph), Nephews Doug Janecek (Pat), Dennis McMullin (Mary), David McMullin (Vicki), Great Nieces Jamie Ehelers (Michael) Jackie Lomas (Lee), Sarah Staton (John), Erin McPillan (Charles) Kari Anne Graham (Bobby) and Great Nephews Chris Janecek (Amanda), Andy Janecek, Trevor McMullin, Ryan McMullin (Joie) and Jason McMullin (Denisse).
