Germantown Police Officer helps successfully deliver healthy baby | By Germantown PD

April 12, 2022 – Germantown, WI – On Saturday, April 9, 2022, at approximately 11:48 p.m., Germantown Police Communications received a 911 call from a male caller reporting his wife was going into labor.

While Communications Officer (CO) Hanson paged the fire department, CO Paulus immediately began Emergency Medical Dispatching with the caller.
At 11:50 p.m., Officer Pesch was the first to arrive at the residence. At the time Officer Pesch arrived, the wife was in extreme pain and the caller was noticeably concerned by the chaos of the unexpected event.

Officer Pesch remained calm and coached the wife to relax her breathing while he prepared to assist with the delivery. CO Paulus remained online with the caller providing continuous medical instructions.
At 11:54 p.m., prior to the Germantown Fire Department or assisting officers’ arrival, the wife delivered a healthy baby boy.
After the incident, Lt. Mikulec reviewed CO Paulus actions over the phone as well as the body camera of Officer Pesch. Lt. Mikulec complimented both of them stating they displayed a high level of professionalism, communicated effectively, and remained calm throughout.
Congratulations to the Rukis family on the birth of their baby boy.
