Germantown’s Division 1 Player of the Year Kamorea Arnold | By Jason Howarth

March 30, 2022 – Germantown, WI – Fresh off a stellar 2021-22 season, Germantown High School junior Kamorea “KK” Arnold was for the second consecutive year named The Associated Press Division 1 Player of the Year and a member of the annual All-State girls’ basketball team, which is comprised of the top five players from each division in Wisconsin.

This season Arnold averaged 24.8 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per game, 7.4 assists per game, and 4.5 steals per game. However, there is more to Arnold than her impressive stat line and accolades, as basketball has been a family affair that ties her directly to her two older brothers who played football and basketball, as well as her older sister who also played basketball.

That genetic talent has been supplemented by what Arnold considers her great asset on the court “definitely my leadership, working with my teammates and helping make the team better.”

Her ultra-competitive nature can sometimes get the best of her on the court, especially when the team is struggling or losing, but she points to the great unity and comradery of the team as a rallying point and key source of her and the recent success of the Germantown girl’s basketball program.

Arnold never stops driving to be a better player, continuing to hone her skills in the summer by playing with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), crediting her great coaches over the years including her current Germantown Head Coach Matthew Stuve and especially “my father and sister for their great support, always right by my side and motivating me.”

“KK” definitely has some lofty expectations to live up to for her future, but despite the pressure of being ESPN’s No. 8 recruit of the (high school) class of 2023 and over 30 scholarship offers for basketball, the choice and commitment of her future to the University of Connecticut was a no brainer.

For Arnold, being a lifelong fan of the Connecticut basketball program was a huge start, but the clincher happened while visiting the campus. “The facility and campus were nice and small, with easy access,” Arnold said. “Watching the (Connecticut) team practice and seeing the drive in the players, the push for greatness instilled by the coaching staff that really stood out to me.”

In college, Arnold looks to study sports broadcasting. In high school one of her favorite classes at Germantown is her criminal justice course, which she loves for both learning law and the element of debate.

Arnold, despite being known for her athletic success, definitely prioritizes her education. “My mom and family help me make sure I put academics first because that is most important.” When not studying or playing basketball, Arnold’s main hobby is dancing, namely for Tik Tok videos.

Her senior season will definitely be one of the most “must-watch” years in recent memory for any Wisconsin high school athlete with both individual aspirations of Arnold and the Germantown Warhawks intertwined in an attempt to bring one more Division 1 State Title home before graduation.

KK Arnold’s drive is what makes her so successful both on and off the court, but she also brings an energy and smile as that looks “to be a great example to little kids to look up to, when they see the passion and fun that I have on the court to be a role model for them.”
