Two men were critically injured when their plane crashed at the Fond du Lac County Airport Thursday morning.
Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig said a number of people at a business off the airport property saw the plane crash.
He said it appeared the operator lost control of the plane during a landing or banking maneuver and crashed in the northwest corner of the airport.
Fond du Lac and Town of Fond du Lac Fire Departments responded to the scene. Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary said they treated the two men in the heavily-damaged single-engine plane.
The men were then flown out by Flight for Life and ThedaStar helicopters.
The airport remains open, but the scene was closed so the FAA could investigate the crash. The crash was reported at 8:21 a.m. The FAA is investigating the crash.
