February 13, 2022 – Jackson, WI – On June 23, 2021, the Village of Jackson Board received an unexpected communication from the Town of Jackson regarding the agreement that established the Jackson Joint Parks and Recreation Department.
The communication informed the Village Board of the Town’s intent to withdraw from the joint agreement in relation to the Jackson Area Community Center and the Joint Recreation Department.
Although this development may not have garnered much attention elsewhere, the Village of Jackson and Town of Jackson have, in the time since, mutually agreed to dissolve the Joint Parks and Recreation agreement that had been in place since 2001.
With this dissolution, the Town of Jackson no longer contributes any funds to the Parks and
Recreation Department budget.
Please be assured the Jackson Community Center and the Jackson Parks and Recreation
Department will remain a strong priority in the Village of Jackson and will continue to provide top-quality programs, events and services as in the past, without disruption.
While all Parks and Recreation Department operational activities will continue as before, as of January 1, 2022, they are now funded solely by the Village of Jackson, via Departmental fundraising and taxes collected from Village residents.
Effective May 1, 2022, Town residents who wish to enjoy amenities offered by the Jackson Parks and Recreation Department will be charged at the non-resident rate posted in the fee structure.

Parks and Recreation Department staff members are saddened by this separation and empathize with the many loyal patrons and volunteers from the Town who may be adversely affected by this change.
