January 24, 2022 – West Bend, WI – A tragic situation has hit the parish family at St. Frances Cabrini in West Bend, WI, as the parents of Rev. Nathan Reesman got into a snowmobiling accident on Sunday. Details by Rev. Reesman were released below.
Dear Friends:
Praised be Jesus Christ!
With sadness I want to inform everyone in the parish communities of the unexpected passing of my dad, Richard. He died yesterday afternoon the 23rd of January near Ironwood, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula. He was 73.
My immediate family had planned a short stay in the UP where we have all spent time over the years. My parents traveled there a couple days ahead of my brother and I, and we were planning to all meet together yesterday evening in Ironwood.
My brother and I were notified by the local law enforcement officials late yesterday afternoon as we were traveling that my parents had been snowmobiling together near their lodging and that there had been some type of accident. My dad was driving the machine and my mom was the passenger. The details of all that happened are still not clear, but sadly it was the case that my father died at the scene of the accident. My mom, Kathy, was injured though not severely. She is currently under observation at a hospital.
My brother and I will be occupied for the next day or so with tying up details in the UP, and attending to my mom’s immediate care.
Please keep my family in your prayers in this challenging time. We will keep the parish communities informed of any funeral arrangements once they become finalized. For anyone who has appointments scheduled with me in the short-term, someone from the parish staffs will be contacting you about re-scheduling them.
May my dad, Richard, and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God Rest In Peace, Amen.
Father Nathan
