Chad Beres is a Patrol Sergeant with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in West Bend and he will be running the 2016 Lakefront Marathon on October 2 in full duty gear including uniform shirt/pants, vest and duty belt.
“I’m doing this to raise awareness for law enforcement officers lost in the line of duty and to raise funds for WI C.O.P.S.,” said Beres. “I did this last year at the Cell Com Marathon in Green Bay and while it was difficult, it was a very motivating experience.”
The 26.2 mile marathon starts in Grafton and finishes along the shores of Lake Michigan north of the Milwaukee Art Museum at Veterans Park.
Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) provides resources to assist in the rebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affected co-workers of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty as determined by Federal criteria.
C.O.P.S. provides training to law enforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educates the public of the need to support the law enforcement profession and its survivors. For more information visit their website – www.wicops.org
