Washington Co., WI – The National Fire Protection Association has declared the week of October 3 thru the 9 as the 2021 Fire Protection Week.
October 2 there is an Open House at Hartford Fire Station 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Fire Prevention Week always is the week October 9 occurs in as this is the day of the two historic fires in Chicago, IL and Peshtigo, WI.
This year the theme of Fire Prevention Week is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety.” It is the intent of the educational material to focus the children and adults to recognize the different sounds of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Most important firefighters well stressing “what to do when an alarm sounds,” according to the NFPA.
Deputy Chief Mark Steger of the Allenton Fire Department reminds the public of some very basic safety tips to follow.
Test smoke alarms every month.
Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms and outside sleeping areas.
Talk with all family members about a fire escape plan and practice the plan twice a year.
If a fire occurs in your home, GET OUT, STAY OUT and CALL FOR HELP!!!
The week starts with a Washington County Fire Apparatus Display on Friday, October 1 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Washington County Fair Park. There will be various fire apparatus from Washington County on display in the parking lot at the fairgrounds. South lane will be a drive through event. Visitors can also park in the other lots and walk up from the north to interact with the firefighters and see displays.

Allenton & St. Lawrence Joint Open House and Pancake Breakfast
Event is held at the Allenton Fire Station, 431 Railroad Street, Allenton on Sunday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Pancakes breakfast will begin at 8 a.m.
Replica Rescue 51 from the TV show—EMERGENCY, Palmer Doll House Live Fire Demonstrations, Fire Extinguisher training, Scavenger hunts, LifeNet fly-in at 10 a.m.
Boltonville Fire Department
Boltonville’s open house for Fire Prevention will be October 11 from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m.

Newburg Fire Department Fire Prevention Week
Open house for fire prevention week is October 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Survive Alive Smoke House, Extinguisher Simulator, Spray Water from a Fire Hose, Fire Truck Rides, Goodie Bags with Helmets for the kids. The kids will have an opportunity to win a ride home from school in a fire truck.

Slinger is having open house at Community Park on Tuesday, October 5 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
