A release from Fond du Lac County Sheriff is posted below.

On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 7:07 p.m., Deputy Kohlmann and his K9 partner Ace conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at I41 southbound near USH 151.

During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Kohlmann noticed indicators of drug use and other circumstances that led him to believe the occupants of the vehicle may be in possession of illegal drugs.

Utilizing K9 Ace, who has been in service with us for one year, Ace strongly alerted on the vehicle and a subsequent search was conducted.

In addition to drug paraphernalia, the following illegal drugs and a firearm were located (weights are approximate):  2,328 grams (5.1 pounds) of methamphetamine
 13.3 grams of crack cocaine  7,282 grams (16.25 pounds) of marijuana
 Loaded .357 magnum revolver

The estimated street value of these drugs is $306,000. Investigators from the Lake Winnebago Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG Unit) were contacted and are continuing the investigation at this time.

The occupants of the vehicle, both from the Milwaukee area, were taken into custody for a
combination of existing warrants and new charges stemming from this traffic stop, and both maintain a presumption of innocence until and unless proven guilty.

Charges were referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office, and the suspects made their initial appearances today before the honorable Judge Walker.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office currently employs two K9 teams who work throughout the year to detect illegal drugs in our community and on our highways. They assist our deputies as well as officers and troopers from other agencies throughout the county in drug and other search related investigations.

Although this seizure was significant, both K9 teams combined have detected and
removed notable quantities of illegal and dangerous drugs from our streets including heroin, MDMA (ecstasy), crack, cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, illegally possessed narcotic medications, cash used in the drug trade, and firearms and other weapons carried by drug dealers.

We remain committed to detecting drug traffickers and dealers who distribute these drugs
throughout our communities, and will continue our work to hold these suspects accountable.
