Obit: Dorothy E. Wery, 91, Port Washington

Mrs. Dorothy Wery, of Stanford Street in Port Washington, passed away Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016, at Ellen’s Home in Port Washington, where she had been residing since May of this year. She was 91 years old.
Dorothy was born on January 18, 1925 in Escanaba, MI, daughter of Elmer and Luella Ruhbusch Wilson. On June 14, 1947 Dorothy was united in marriage with Glenn Wery in Escanaba. They moved to Port Washington in 1947. During their retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling. They toured 48 of the states; she never made it to Hawaii, and missed one state out east when Glenn refused to make a u-turn and go back. He preceded her in death in 2011.

Mrs. Wery was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington. She loved polka music, playing 500 Rummy with friends, baking – especially breads and cakes- and gambling junkets to Laughlin, NV. She also enjoyed watching to Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Barbara Roska of Saukville, and sons Thomas (Josephine) Wery of Oshkosh, James Wery of Port Washington and David (Karen) Wery of Dickson, TN, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sister Phyllis Tolman of Escanaba, MI, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Glenn and three sisters: Ethel Victorson, June Blau and Joyce Kuehl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30PM on Tuesday, July 5th at St John XXIII, St. Peter of Alcantara Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 4PM until services at 5:30PM.

Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
