Plane traveling from Indiana to EAA crashes in Town of Ripon

July 29, 2021 – Fond du lac, WI – On Thursday, July 29, 2021, at approximately 12:19 pm the Fond du Lac County Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a plane crash in a field near the address of W13061 Locust Rd in the Township of Ripon, Fond du Lac County.

Town of Ripon Police Department and Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with medical personnel from Ripon Fire Department and Ripon Guardian Ambulance.

Initial investigation is a 1933 Stinson single-engine plane was traveling from Indiana to EAA in Oshkosh, WI. The plan experienced a mechanical issue with fuel. The pilot attempted to land the plane in a field near the address of W13061 Locust Rd in the Township of Ripon. As the pilot was landing the plane, due to the wet field, the front tires of the plane dug into the mud causing the plane to flip one time, landing on its roof. The pilot received minor injuries and was treated on the scene and released. The 3 other passengers were uninjured. All occupants of the plane were wearing safety belts.

The pilot was Justin Click (50); passengers wereMalachais Schavey (18), Ryan Baimakovich (20 and an 11-year-old female, all of Hobart, Indiana.

The FAA is responding to the scene to complete its investigation. The incident is being investigated by the Town of Ripon Police Department. Any questions regarding this incident can contact the Town of Ripon Police Department at (920)748-2910.
