June 22, 2021 – Thiensville, WI -Lindsey Carol Portenier of Thiensville, Wisconsin, was born into this life on May 31, 1998, and she was born to eternal life on June 17, 2021.
Her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 23, at Christ Alone Lutheran Church in Thiensville. Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11:30 am time of the Christian Funeral service, with lunch to follow. Pastor Don Scheuerlein will officiate at the service.
Lindsey is survived by her father, Larry Portenier; her maternal grandfather, Bernie Zandi; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Heather (Sedgewick) Portenier; her paternal grandparents, Walter and Alice Portenier; her maternal grandmother, Carol Zandi; her maternal grandparents, Lorry and Barb Sedgewick; and her maternal aunt, Lynn Zandi.
Lindsey loved to travel, including trips to Disney World with friends, to Rocky Mountain National Park with her aunts, uncles, and cousins, and to Glacier National Park with Gail and Jeff Markham.
Hiking with her dad and others was a favorite pastime; she loved the outdoors. She was a constant and voracious reader who actually finished reading all 1,194 pages of Victor Hugo’s massive novel Les Misérables, which she and Dad saw staged as a spectacular musical at the Skylight Music Theater.
She gave quiet voice to her creative side with skillful drawings, sketches, and stories that she seldom shared with others. The annual Lakefront Festival of the Arts at the Milwaukee Art Museum was a favorite of hers. Above all, she always enjoyed the precious times that she had with her family and friends.
Lindsey attended Calvary Lutheran School through 8th grade, she graduated from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School in 2016, and she then attended Wisconsin Lutheran College. She was employed by The Benefits Companies as a benefits consultant, where she found great fulfillment in her relationships with fellow workers and with the services they provide to clients. She was a member of Christ Alone Lutheran Church, the church of her baptism and confirmation.
The Lord is Lindsey’s Shepherd. He was with her when she lost her mother at the age of nine months. His goodness and mercy followed her throughout her life as she was loved and cared for by her father, her grandparents, and many others. He walked with her through the valley of the shadow of death during the medical crisis that brought her earthly life to a close. It is the confidence that Lindsey now dwells in the house of the Lord forever that gives us comfort during this time of loss.
