Obit: Edwin “Dietz” Dietrich, Jr., 79, Grafton

Edwin William “Dietz” Dietrich Jr., of Grafton, passed away on June 18, 2016, at the age of 79 years.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington St., Grafton. A visitation will be at the Grafton Mueller Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation appreciated.

Edwin was born and raised in Hamilton (Cedarburg), WI on March 27, 1937, the son of the late Edwin Sr. and the late Emily (nee Tong) Dietrich. He was united in marriage to Janice (nee Henke) on February 11, 1956. They recently celebrated their 60th diamond anniversary.

Edwin worked for the village of Grafton, water and waste water treatment plant for 30 years. He could be seen driving his blue truck always with his cowboy hat on from March 1967 to February 2000. He was on the Village of Grafton Board of Public Works for 11 years after retirement.

Edwin and Janice loved to travel together. They especially liked going to Branson as they both loved country music. Everyone knew that his favorite singers were Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. They also really enjoyed many years with the Cedarburg Grafton Camping Cousins.

Edwin is survived by his wife Janice Dietrich; daughters: JoAnn (Ken) Zirtzlaff of Door County, Tammy (Todd) Shaver of Adell, and Debra (Sam) Fluhr of Grafton; grandchildren: Jenifer (special friend Rob Bedelis) Dietrich, Travis (Deanna) Shaver, Dylan (special friend Kelly Schultz) Shaver, Mariah (special friend Brett Weiand) Shaver; great-grandchilren: Julia (fiancé Philip Shierk) Dietrich and Madalyn (special friend Dean Schroepfer) Schueller; Brother, Charles (Robin) Dietrich; Sister, Mary Jane (Ronney) Wobschal; and Sister-in-law, Barbara Dietrich. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Edwin was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bintzler; brother, Alfred Dietrich; and a horse named Flash.
