It has been reported that the fire station parking lot on South Main Street in Fond du Lac was roped off this morning as police officals dealt with fireworks in the trunk of a car. Division Chief Troy Haase (HAH-zee) says a Fond du Lac man stopped at the fire station to dispose of some fireworks after cleaning them out of a deceased person’s home.
“Our guess go out and look at it. It looks like, you know…it could be an issue so we just automatically said Haase, “Well, we’re not gonna do anything with this. We’re gonna get hold of somebody that knows something about it.” “We’re not bomb experts by any means,” he said.
The Brown-Outagamie Bomb Squad responded to the situation and removed the explosives. Officials were on the scene approximately five hours.
