A 16-year-old Richfield boy, Jacob Amidon, was involved in an accident Wednesday morning in neighboring Dodge County that resulted in the death of a 74-year-old man, John Rawlins, from Ixonia, Wisconsin.
Preliminary investigation shows Rawlins was operating his 2003 GMC and traveling north on County Highway P approaching the intersection with County Highway O.
At the same time Amidon was operating a 2008 Kia and traveling east on CTH O, approaching the posted stop sign at the intersection with CTH P.
The Kia failed to yield the right of way to the GMC and entered the intersection. The front of the Kia struck the left side of the GMC, causing the GMC to overturn.
Rawlins was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner.
Laura Coarsey, 15, from Hartford was a passenger in the Kia. Marie Rawlins, 72, from Ixonia was a passenger in the GMC.
All three persons were transported by EMS (ground) to Oconomowoc Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Assisting at the scene were: Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Oconomowoc Police, Ashippun Fire and 1st Responders, Dodge County Medical Examiner, Stone Bank EMS, Oconomowoc EMS, Flight for Life, Dodge County Emergency Response Team.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
