Cedar Community receives grant for COVID-19 screening kiosks | By Carrie Sturn

West Bend, WI – Cedar Community is pleased to announce it has received a grant from the Oscar C. and Augusta Schlegel Foundation. These funds, which are in addition to their annual gift giving, will be used to cover acquisition and training costs for Accushield Screening Systems.

These sign-in and screening kiosks administer touchless temperature readings and COVID-19 screening questions to help provide for a safer community.

The challenges presented by COVID-19 have included increased staffing levels, equipment, and other associated costs involved with mandatory testing.

Cedar Community has been under strict guidelines from federal, state, and local health officials for contact tracing and COVID screening standards. These ongoing requirements continue to strain already tight budgets and even tighter staffing schedules.

The Oscar C and August Schlegel Foundation grant allows for the purchase of five screening kiosks, one at each campus, for the purpose of testing team members, external care providers, vendors, and visitors. “These kiosks will not only save the costs of staffing screening stations manually across campuses, but will serve to improve security by having visitor photos and sign-in data easily accessible,” says Sarah Malchow, Director of Philanthropy.

“The kiosks can also be used to screen for other infectious diseases and seasonal illness as
needed. We are truly grateful for the generosity provided by the Oscar C and Augusta Schlegel Foundation that allows us to continue to provide measures that help keep our residents and team members safe during these trying times.”
