Allenton, WI – The Allenton American Legion Fohl-Martin Post 483 is participating in the National Wreaths Across America TM (WAA) on December 19, 2020. Our goal is to honor 300 local veterans by placing a wreath on their headstones in eight area cemeteries.
We’ll need your help this year to get sponsors to support our ~300 local veterans with a hand-crafted wreath made of an all-American balsam and hand-tied red velvet bow from Maine.
In 2019 the Allenton Post was successful in raising money to purchase all the wreaths.
Those that wish to purchase a wreath to be placed on a Veteran’s gravestone located outside of our 8 designated cemeteries can do so as well.
Those wreaths will need to be picked up at the American Legion Clubhouse on Railroad Street in Allenton on December 19 at 9 a.m.
“Wreaths Across AmericaTM (WAA) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2007, by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester, to support the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Since its founding, the WAA has expanded to include nearly 2,000 local fundraising groups in all 50 states, representing more than 1,600 participating locations. In 2019, nearly 2 million veterans were honored with a wreath in the United States and at cemeteries across the world.”
Each wreath costs $15, as this is an excellent way for our grateful community, state and nation to say “thank you” to our veterans.
We need orders in by December 9,2020. Order forms are available at Allenton American Legion Post 483 Facebook page or stop by Alma’s Café or Romie’s BP in Allenton or contact Ron Naab rjnaab@frontier.com or 262/629-9749
