November 20, 2020 – Town of Erin, WI – On November 19, 2020 at 12:03 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received notification that a fire of unknown origin was in the ditch line on Erin Road and was spreading quickly.
The Sheriff’s dispatch alerted deputies and area fire departments to respond. The fire was unable to be immediately contained due to its size. The fire eventually spread over an area estimated to be one square mile between Erin Road, County Line Road, Claire Lane, and Killarney Road.
The following Fire Departments responded and successfully brought the fire under control: Ashippun, Neosho, Hartford, Merton, Western Lakes, Lebanon, Lake Country, Hustisford, Ixonia, Lisbon, Sullivan, Delafield, Clyman, and Reeseville.
Troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol and deputies from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office also assisted on scene. There were no injuries to any law enforcement or fire department personnel.
Residents were evacuated as a precautionary measure while the fire was being extinguished.
No dwellings were harmed by the fire. Erin Road in the Town of Erin was shut down for approximately five hours.
