November 2, 2020 – West Bend, WI – Yvonne C. Nordquist (nee Cash), 85, took hold of the hand of her Lord, Jesus Christ, and was welcomed into her heavenly home on September 16, 2020, in Richmond, Virginia.
She may have lost her long and courageous battle with illnesses affecting both mind and body, but her spirit and faith in Christ never wavered.
Born on January 31, 1935, Yvonne was the daughter of Herbert and Lucille (nee Dishno) Cash and was raised on the family farm located just outside of West Bend, Wisconsin.
On August 2nd, 1952, she married the love of her life, Carl J. Nordquist, in a ceremony held at Trinity English Lutheran Church in West Bend, Wisconsin. Their nearly 63-year marriage ended when Carl preceded her in death by entering the Lord’s kingdom on Easter morning, April 5, 2015.
Together, they raised 4 children: Randy (Brenda) Nordquist of Mechanicsville, VA; Terry (Kathy) Nordquist of Colgate, WI; Rene Nordquist (Glen Allen, VA); and Todd Nordquist (Henrico, VA).
Yvonne loved her family and friends unconditionally, through good times and trying times. Her faith in Christ was unshakeable and it was a faith that would carry her through to her final breath.
She was well known for her honesty, integrity, generosity and her warm, loving smile, no matter what situation she, or anyone else was facing at any given time. She was always quick to forgive any trespass and always treated everyone she met with kindness, even those who showed her little to none, in hopes that one day, their hearts would change.
In addition to her 4 children, Yvonne leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers (H. John, Gerald and David), 4 sisters (Martha, Edith, Flo and Cherie), many nieces, nephews and loving friends, especially her lifelong friend, Dorothy Sawyer of West Bend, Wisconsin, a friend whom she always considered to be her “sister of choice.” Those family members and other lifelong friends (too numerous to mention) who’ve also preceded her in death, are now rejoicing with her among the angels upon being reunited with her in eternal glory.
Yvonne will once again be reunited with her beloved husband, Carl, in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, in Spring of 2021, during a small, private ceremony.
