VIDEO | Large turnout on first day of in-person absentee voting in Washington County

October 20, 2020 – Village of Richfield, WI – There were a lot of eager voters today across Washington County as in-person absentee voting got underway.

“We had one guy waiting in his truck at 7:15 a.m.,” said Village of Richfield administrator Jim Healy. “I told the guy we didn’t open until 8 a.m. and he said that was fine because he didn’t want to be 20th in line when we did open.”

Sure enough by 8 a.m. there was a line around the municipal building the Village of Richfield is using for its drive-thru voting.

It was much the same scenario in the Town of West Bend which opened its doors at 9 a.m. for drive-thru voting.

In other communities such as Hartford, Village of Kewaskum and Village of Slinger there were lines as people stood inside City Hall or Village Hall waiting to cast their ballot for the Nov. 3, 2020 election.

Hours for in-person absentee vary by community.
