September 27, 2020 – Village of Richfield, WI – On September 27, 2020, at approximately 2:25 a.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a single vehicle accident on Highway 45 southbound.
The fatal accident occurred just north of I41 merge in Village of Richfield.
Upon arrival, deputies confirmed a single vehicle rollover crash. Richfield Fire and Rescue responded.
A 29-year-old West Allis man was the operator of the vehicle. He was determined to be deceased at the scene.
A 27-year-old West Allis female was a passenger in the vehicle. She was ejected from the vehicle. Richfield Rescue provided aid on scene.
She was transported via Flight For Life to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Initial investigation indicates the vehicle lost control and left the roadway. It then overturned multiple times.
The crash remains under investigation.
State Patrol and their Technical Reconstruction Unit assisted with the investigation. It appears alcohol and seatbelt usage were factors in this crash.
This is the third traffic fatality investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in 2020.
