Newburg, WI – On December 9, 2024 at 6:41 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center took a 911 call from the homeowner at 6975 Barney Ct. in the Town of Trenton, who reported, there was heavy smoke coming from their attached garage.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and the Newburg Fire Department were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
Upon the arrival of Deputies and Newburg FD, the approximately 24 foot x 36 foot garage attached to the 1800-square-foot residence had heavy smoke coming out of the garage.
The Newburg Fire Department quickly upgraded the call to a working still and was assisted by the Fillmore FD, Jackson FD, West Bend FD, Saukville FD and Slinger FD.
The homeowners were able to exit the residence before deputies and the Newburg FD arrived on scene and did not suffer any injuries.
The fire was contained to the attached garage and the residence only sustained smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Newburg Fire Department. Initial damage estimated at $140,000 in between the structure and property in the garage.
