Oct. 27, 2016 – Hartford, WI – The Washington County Sheriff’s responded to the area of Arthur Road and Hwy 83 on last Friday, Oct. 21 at 9:10 a.m. for a motor vehicle accident. A citizen saw the accident and reported it to authorities. Upon the first squad’s arrival, the operator of the suspect vehicle fled into a swampy area and hid. The suspect only came out of the swamp voluntarily after the second deputy arrived.
The driver, identified as a 50-year-old Town of Hartford man, smelled of alcohol and asked investigating deputies to take him to jail. The subject was transported to Aurora Medical Center in Hartford where it was determined he had several back fractures from the accident. After medical clearance the following afternoon, he was brought to jail for 7th offense drunk driving.
This is the third story this week in Washington County where the operators of vehicles were arrested in the morning hours for drunk driving. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant during all hours of the day for drivers that are putting us all at risk.
What does he have to do before you lock him for several years.?
This is typical in the Tavern League dominated state of Wisconsin ! When a person is convicted of their 3rd OWI it should be time for some SERIOUS jail time. I don’t want to hear about this being a “sickness” blah, blah … This is a CHOICE !!! Time for personal responsibility- its not something or someone else’s fault !
