September 4, 2022 – Washington Co., WI – The Washington County Humane Society is expecting to put 50 dogs up for adoption this week after the animals, mostly puppies, were seized during an illegal transport from Texas.
Late last night, law enforcement intercepted an illegal, pick-up truck transportation of nearly 50 dogs (mostly puppies) from Texas to our area. They quickly contacted our shelter and our care staff were there to answer that call. Caregivers worked diligently into the early morning intaking these dogs, no doubt frightened from their harrowing journey.
Today, staff, volunteers and our vet are still working to ensure they are well cared for. The majority of the puppies seem perfectly healthy and some may even be spayed/neutered soon. The public can expect to see many of these dogs up for adoption as early as Tuesday (9/6). Viewable at wchspets.org
Leadership at WCHS couldn’t be happier with the prompt and efficient staff response and would like to thank local law enforcement for their collaboration in this difficult situation.
WCHS relies on care and support from our community to respond to situations like this – however that support comes to us. Even a brief visit to our adoption wards and sharing animal pictures with friends and family can have profound impact. Consider donating, visiting or even just telling a loved one about this story. It will help more than you may realize.
