Town of West Bend, WI – The Town of West Bend is wrapping up and extensive road project involving 1.6 miles from Scenic Drive to Paradise Drive. Neighbors familiar with the area use it as the back way off Paradise Drive. The road runs from Cedar Ridge, south to The Cottages or Ridge Run Park and then past holes 13 and 14 at the West Bend Country Club to Paradise Drive.
Town chairman Troy Zagel said he received a 70-percent grant from the state which helped cover a majority of the $440,000 cost. “The town will pay 30-percent of that,” he said.

Aside from the blacktop, guardrails, and rumble strips, there is a new 4-way stop at Scenic Drive and Wheat Ridge Lane.
“I had a lot of complaints,” said Zagel. “People from The Cottages had spouses go visit and they were scared to death to drive there. They drive slow and people come around those curves fast.
“There were a lot of accident there and motorists would run into the field or the pond right after the turn,” said Zagel.

Zagel cites “safety” as the primary driver of the project. Motorists should also be aware there will be new signage for a speed reduction from 35mph to 25mph from approximately Dunst Drive north to the Town limits.
