3 people now dead following crash in neighboring Dodge County, WI

July 18, 2024 – Dodge Co., WI – Three people have now lost their lives following a 4-vehicle crash this past June 2024 in neighboring Dodge County. An update from the Sheriff is below.

Update 07-18-2024

David Fox died on July 16, 2024 due to the injuries he received as a result of the crash.

Update 06-21-2024

The identities of the people involved in the crash were:

Roland Greuel, 84, Hustisford

Shirley Greuel, 79, Hustisford

David Fox, 71, Shorewood

Christine Conrad, 43, Kewaskum

The 17-year-old driver’s name will not be released due to his juvenile status.  

*Corrections to the original release: Further investigation showed the car driven by David Fox was westbound behind the car driven by the juvenile.

The pickup driven by Roland Greuel was eastbound, followed by the car driven by Christine Conrad.  The juvenile’s car crossed the centerline striking the pickup, which then spun into the path of the second westbound car driven by David Fox.  

The crash remains under investigation.  Additional agencies assisting at the crash that were not listed in the first release were the Neosho and Hustisford Fire Departments.

Below are the initial reports that ran regarding the crash.

June 21, 2024 – Dodge Co., WI – Two people were killed and 3 injured following a four-vehicle crash this week on State Highway 33 in the town of Herman in east-central Dodge County.

Traffic crash with multiple fatalities

An 84-year-old male and 79-year-old female, both of rural Hustisford, are dead following a four-vehicle traffic crash on State Highway 33 in the town of Herman in east-central Dodge County.  A 71-year-old male from Shorewood was taken by ambulance to a level 2 trauma center with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.  

A 17-year-old male from rural Mayville, and a 43-year-old Kewaskum female, were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel, but not taken to a hospital.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, 911 callers reported a multiple-vehicle crash with serious injuries and entrapment on State Highway 33 between Pierce Road and Town Hall Road.  

The initial investigation indicated a westbound passenger car driven by the 17-year-old male, crossed over the center line and struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by the 84-year-old male and his 79-year-old passenger.

 That pickup was struck by a following, eastbound passenger car driven by the 71-year-old Shorewood male, and a fourth car following that one had minor damage from either debris or light contact.

The fourth car was driven by the 43- yearold Kewaskum female.

Both of the deceased were pronounced dead at the scene, following their extrication from the pickup, and life-saving measures were administered.  

The crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.  Also responding to and assisting at the scene were Iron Ridge Fire Department and First Responders, Theresa Fire Department and EMS, Mayville EMS, Allenton Fire Department and EMS, Beaver Dam Paramedics, West Bend Paramedics, Flight For Life (two helicopters), Dodge County Sheriff Chaplain, Dodge County Medical Examiner, and Dodge County Emergency Response Team (DCERT).

State Highway 33 was fully closed during the response and investigation and is expected to be opened up by about 4 pm.

June 19, 2024 – Dodge Co., WI – Motorists will want to stay clear of Highway 33 and Town Hall Road in Dodge County, WI, following a severe multivehicle accident with injuries.

UPDATE 3: As of 3 p.m. both helicopters have returned to their base – no transport.

UPDATE 2: A second helicopter now landing at 2:15 p.m. at Hwy 33 and Town Hall Road.

UPDATE: Flight for Life is landing just west of CTH P at Pierce Road.

State Highway 33 is closed from County Road P to County Road AY between Horicon and Allenton due to a serious crash.
Additional information will be made available later this afternoon. Please avoid the area.

Initial reports: just before 2 p.m. a 3-vehicles crash with two people trapped.

Multiple agencies are responding including 2 Flight for Life helicopters, and medics from Beaver Dam, Mayville, West Bend, Theresa, and all surrounding fire departments.
