February 29, 2024 – Town of Jackson, WI – On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 8:53 p.m., the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of what was first reported as a vehicle in the ditch on Division Road north of STH 60 in the Town of Jackson.
The incident was reported by a passerby who indicated the vehicle was still running with its lights on and that it was unknown if it was occupied.
The first responding deputy on scene located the vehicle unoccupied in the east ditch of Division Road facing northbound.
The operator and lone occupant of the vehicle was located outside of the vehicle unresponsive and unconscious. Upon the arrival of Jackson Fire and Rescue, it was determined the operator suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The preliminary investigation on scene indicated the vehicle was southbound on Division Road when it went off onto the west shoulder, overcorrected back to the east and across the northbound lane of traffic, then entered the east ditch and overturned.
The operator was ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle came to a rest among heavy brush in the east ditch.
Division Road between Pleasant Valley Road and STH 60 was closed for approximately four hours to facilitate vehicle recovery and crash investigation.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on scene by the Jackson Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The deceased operator of the vehicle was a 23-year-old female from the Village of Germantown. The operator’s name is not being released currently pending notification of next of kin.
This incident was Washington County’s first traffic fatality of 2024.
No further information is being released at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
February 28, 2024 – Town of Jackson, Wi – There is a large presence of law enforcement around the marsh on Highway G between State Hwy 60 and County Hwy NN.
Motorists were being detoured around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night, February 28, 2024.

One motorist said, “So many cop cars and the skies were lit up with their lights.”
So far there’s no word from Washington County Sheriff’s regarding the incident. Dispatch did indicate a press release will be issued later this evening.
