VIDEO | 18th Avenue in West Bend to close, Paradise to Vogt Drive, until August 2022

West Bend, WI – Motorists in West Bend, WI will have to find an alternate route as 18th Avenue is closed until early August 2022 from just past the entrance to the clinic north of Paradise Drive to Vogt Drive.

18th Ave and Paradise

“The entrance to the West Bend Health Center on 18th Avenue will be open,” said Mary Pyritz with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). “People who want to visit Washington County Memorial Park will have to use the entrance on Paradise Drive.”

That road closure will likely affect the route of the West Bend cemetery tour that is held prior to the Memorial Day Parade.

For the past few years veterans have organized a driving tour through local cemeteries to pay tribute to veterans who have served their country.

Vehicles followed Vietnam veteran Terry Vrana’s vintage military Jeep past Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Holy Angels Cemetery and Washington County Memorial Cemetery. They would also pass the home of World War II veteran Allan Kieckhafer.

Calls have been placed to pre-parade organizers and an updated route will be posted when information becomes available.

18th Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Paradise Drive to Vogt Drive beginning Monday, April 18, 2022 until approximately the beginning of August 2022.

It was April 2018 when a similar construction project was completed on 18th Avenue north of Vogt Drive to Decorah Road.

Motorists are reminded to abide by all traffic control signs and devices, as well as be aware of ongoing construction activities.  Alternate routes should be planned to avoid construction.
