4 people in custody after shots fired in Hartford | By Chief Scott MacFarlan

Thanks to August 11, 221 – Hartford, WI – On August 11, 2021, at approximately 2:14 p.m. the Hartford Police Department was contacted by employees working at Menasha Packaging who reported hearing people arguing, and subsequent gunshots, in the area of Airport Dr. behind the business.

Officers responded to the area and observed four individuals running eastbound from the area towards Wittenberger Bus Services.

An employee of Menasha notified an officer in the area that it appeared one of the individuals had a handgun.

 

Officers eventually caught up with the individuals in and around Wittenberger’s lot.

 

One of the individuals had a firearm magazine on their person, however no weapons were immediately located.

 

Hartford Officers contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office with a request for a drone to assist in a search for additional subjects.

 

The Germantown Police K-9 Officer was also contacted to respond with a specially trained K-9 to assist with an additional search for potential evidence in the area.

 

As a result of the K-9 search, two stolen firearms were located. One of the firearms was reported stolen yesterday from a vehicle in the City of Hartford.

 

No one was injured during the incident, and the reason for the activity involving the gunshots is still unknown.

All four suspects were taken into custody and criminal charges are pending. The matter remains under investigation by the Hartford Police Detective Bureau.
