13 fire departments responded to barn fires in FDL County | By Sgt Brian Bednarek

August 3, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI –On Saturday, August 03, 2024 at approximately 1:04 a.m. the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call from a resident, reporting that a barn containing hay was on fire at W7950 W Lone Elm Rd in the Township of Eldorado.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the property along with The Eldorado Fire Department and Van Dyne Fire Department.

 

The Communications Center relayed information that a nearbysecond barn is on fire. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, one barn was fully engulfed. The feed in two adjoining silos also caught on fire.

 

Due to the size and severity of the fire, the following Fire Departments responded. Brandon Fairwater Fire, Lamartine Fire, Rit 4, St Cloud Fire, Town of Fond du Lac Fire, North Fond du Lac Fire and Ambulance, Rosendale Fire, Utica Fire, Nekimi Fire, Van Dyne Fire, Oakfield Fire, Waupun Fire and City of Fond du Lac Fire. Wisconsin Power & Light Company also assisted at the scene.

Property loss management

The 80’ x 100’ barn is a total loss and the nearby 20’x 40’ barn sustained damage. The damage to the home was limited to the siding. All the cattle are accounted for.

 

The Wisconsin State Patrol and Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control.

 

There were no reports of civilian or emergency personnel injured during the course of the fire. Cause of the fire may be related to a conveyor belt that was in the barn. At this time, the fire is not suspicious in nature.
