March 1, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Saturday, March 1, 2025, at approximately 1:46 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash in the area of Highway 26 near Neitman Road in the Township of Waupun, Fond du Lac County. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed a southbound passenger vehicle on Highway 26 crossed over the centerline and struck a northbound commercial motor vehicle (straight truck) in a head-on collision.
It was reported that the southbound passenger vehicle was unable to maintain its lane prior to the crash.
The operator of the southbound passenger vehicle, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the northbound commercial motor vehicle was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, where they were treated and released.
Highway 26 was closed between CTH-TC and Highway 151 for approximately 4 hours to facilitate emergency response operations and the investigation by the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
Assisting agencies included the City of Waupun Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupun County Fire Department, Lifestar Emergency Medical Service, and the Fond du Lac County Highway Department.
At this time, the names of the individuals involved are not being released, as the investigation is ongoing by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
