Deputies and Newburg Rescue were subsequently dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders found the operator of a sedan unresponsive in the vehicle.

The operator was able to be removed from the vehicle and life-saving measures were attempted but were unsuccessful.

The operator was pronounced deceased at the scene, and is identified as a male in his late sixties from Washington County. The operator of the semi was uninjured in the crash.

The initial investigation showed the semi-truck was stopped in the eastbound lane of traffic as it was delivering equipment. The sedan was also eastbound and failed to react to the semi-truck stopped in traffic until the last second, resulting in the sedan impacting the rear of the trailer. Multiple witnesses were on scene to provide accounts of the accident.

Cty Tk M was shut down for approximately 4 hours for accident reconstruction and removal of vehicles. West Bend Rescue and the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted during the call.
