March 21, 2023 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at approximately 6:06 p.m., a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, on HWY 26 near Cattaraugus Rd in the Town of Waupun, for multiple equipment violations.
The Deputy also noted when running the displayed registration that it returned with no vehicle associated.
The vehicle slowed like it was going to pull over and stop, but then accelerated at a high rate of speed, North on HWY 26. A pursuit was initiated.
The vehicle continued north on HWY 26 at a high rate of speed. As the pursuit entered the Town of Springvale on HWY 26, an Officer with the Village of Rosendale was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device, slowing the suspect as he entered the Village of Rosendale.
The suspect continued through the Village of Rosendale north on HWY 26. Deputies along with the Rosendale Officer and Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol continued pursuing the vehicle north on HWY 26 into Winnebago County.
The suspect reached I41 and continued East on County Road N. Eventually the vehicle slowed on Fisk Ave near Country Club Rd and traveled into the south ditch where it became disabled. The suspect initially appeared as though he was going to resist or flee on foot, however thought twice of that decision when he saw Sheriff K9 Rip, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
K9 Rip next alerted on the suspect’s vehicle for the presence of narcotics. Searching the vehicle deputies located a total approximately one pound of suspected methamphetamine, 10 grams of suspected cocaine and large sum of US currency.
No squad cars were damaged from the pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle sustained disabling damages from continuing to drive after the tire deflation device was utilized. Oshkosh Fire Department along with Van Dyne first responders evaluated the suspect for injuries at the scene of the crash and he was released to deputies.
A 26-year-old male from Oshkosh is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail with pending charges of fleeing/eluding an officer, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (>200grams), possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple traffic related violations.
The male is also being held on a Felony warrant out of the State of Virginia for possession of dangerous drugs. He is on probation/parole through The Wisconsin Department of Corrections for both drug related offenses and felon in possession of a firearm. He has a lengthy criminal history stemming from drug related convictions.
The pursuit covered a total distance of 24.3 miles. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Officer with the Village of Rosendale Police Department, Troopers with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Oshkosh Fire Department and Van Dyne First Responders.
